I never understood feminism. I never understood discrimination and prejudice. I never understood what gender bias was. A wise person once gave me some sage advice… “be very, very, very careful what you wish for because one day your wish may one day be fulfilled.”
I didn’t quite appreciate what he meant. Now I do. A little while ago, a female friend said to, by way of encouragement, “Sorel… if you are in this for a penny then you must be in this for a pound.” In being honest about my own gender identity journey I am learning the grace of accepting things as they are, rather than as thought they were.
This woman’s passion has, surprisingly, becoming my own as well…. and I am not quite sure why. In time I am sure I shall understand.
